
Wayne Daniel had tried to lose weight so many times before, and each time, she feared it would be another disappointment. But deep down, she knew something had to change. She was mentally, physically, and emotionally worn out, and she knew she deserved to feel better.
So instead of looking at the big picture and feeling overwhelmed, she decided to take it one day at a time.
Her first step? She began by setting small, realistic goals. She started by removing one unhealthy item from her diet and walking just one block at a time.
Some days, a full workout seemed impossible, so she told herself, “Just do 10 minutes.” And before she knew it, she was pushing a little further, building strength and confidence along the way.
”I started with small goals (i.e., eliminating one item from my diet that would hinder my weight loss; walking one block at a time until I was walking greater distances.) I adopted the mentality that I may not be able to nail a 45-minute exercise session, but I could do at least 10. Once I started, I found that I could push myself for a few more minutes, thereby increasing my strength and stamina.”
Finding the Right Program for Long-Term Success

Wayne’s journey with Fabulous50s began when she was recovering from a leg injury. She knew she needed something gentle yet effective, and that’s when she found the program.
The workouts were perfect for her recovery, helping her move her body in a way that felt good. Once she regained her strength, she confidently moved on to more advanced routines, feeling stronger every step of the way.
“I began Fabulous 50’s following a leg injury. Although, I knew I wouldn’t be able to do the routines I was doing, so I searched for things I could do. I stumbled across Fabulous 50’s and fell in love with the program. Once I had recuperated, I graduated to the more challenging routines to further my return to “normal” exercise.”
At first, physical limitations were a challenge. But the more consistent she became, the more everything started to shift. She was no longer just exercising; she was transforming. Her energy levels soared, her body became stronger, and she finally felt in control of her health.

The Moment Everything Changed

One of the proudest moments of Wayne’s journey is knowing that she has maintained her 170lb weight loss for over 26 years! She is living proof that long-term changes are better than quick fixes.
Of course, there are still days when motivation is low, but the difference now is that those moments don’t derail her. She’s in control, and she knows exactly what to do to stay on track.
A beautiful part of her transformation was the bond she built with her mother. In 1998, Wayne decided to focus on her health and invited her mother to join her on the journey. At first, her mother doubted whether she could make a change at her age, but together, they proved that anything is possible.
Their daily walks became a time for connection, laughter, and support, turning them into not just fitness partners but best friends. As a fun way to remember how far they had come together, they gave themselves the name “Blubber Buddies.”
“I’m most proud of the fact that I have maintained my weight loss of 170 lbs for over 26 years! I will NEVER be the girl I was before I started this journey. I’m not perfect; I still have slip-ups and days I’m not motivated to exercise, but they are not the dominating force they were prior to my weight loss/road to health journey.”
Wayne’s Message to Anyone Who Feels Stuck
Wayne’s advice? Just start. You don’t have to be perfect. You don’t have to do what everyone else is doing. Just do what you can, and build from there.
“ I try to encourage others by instilling in them the attitude of, ‘You may not be able to do what others can do, but you CAN do something! Just start. Adopt a “no excuses” attitude. For example, “I don’t feel like exercising today, but I will commit to doing at least 10 minutes.” It’s often just getting started is all you needed. Once those endorphins kick in, you are able to go beyond your original goal. NEVER EVER NEVER GIVE UP!”
“One meal or day of failure does not mean you are a lifetime failure. Start again! Nail it the next meal, next workout, next day. Do not allow yourself to give in to negative self-talk. You become what you tell yourself you will become. If you are inactive, overweight and unhealthy, tell yourself you ARE what you desire the future you to be. She’s inside of you. Uncover her and let her shine.”
Most importantly, never give up. One bad meal or one missed workout doesn’t define your journey. Every single day is a chance to start fresh, do a little better, and move closer to the healthiest, happiest version of YOU.
