Apple cider vinegar (ACV) has gained a reputation as a “super elixir” in recent years, often praised for its potential health benefits, particularly in the realms of weight loss and digestion. Exploring the apple cider vinegar benefits reveals its historical use for healing, potential effects on blood sugar levels, weight loss, and overall health.
While it’s important to note that drinking apple cider vinegar isn’t a magic bullet for instant weight loss, incorporating it into your daily routine can offer a variety of benefits that make it worth considering.
However, one of the main challenges to drink apple cider vinegar has for many people is getting past the sharp, acidic taste of apple cider vinegar. Fortunately, there are ways to create a delicious apple cider vinegar drink that is not only palatable but also packed with health-boosting properties.
The Apple Cider Vinegar Diet: What You Need to Know
The concept of an apple cider vinegar diet revolves around adding apple cider vinegar to your daily routine, often diluted in water, as part of a broader approach to improving health and managing weight.
ACV is rich in acetic acid, a compound that has been linked to several health benefits, including improved digestion, lower blood sugar levels, and modest weight loss. Research shows that participants who consumed apple cider vinegar daily lost weight compared to those who did not. The key is to make drinking apple cider vinegar a habit that fits seamlessly into your daily routine.
However, the taste of apple cider vinegar can be quite strong, especially for those new to taking it. That’s why combining it with other ingredients can make the experience much more enjoyable while enhancing its other health benefits.
The Apple Cider Vinegar Drink Recipe
One of the most effective ways to incorporate apple cider vinegar into your diet is through a specially crafted drink that targets digestion and supports weight loss. Apple cider vinegar is commonly consumed diluted in water, with recommended amounts such as 1-2 tablespoons to assess tolerance and maximize health benefits.
This recipe combines ACV with grapefruit, lemon juice, cinnamon, and honey, creating a flavorful tonic that offers a range of benefits beyond just weight management.
Ingredients:
Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV): Known for its acetic acid content, ACV can help improve food digestion, lower blood sugar levels, and support weight loss by increasing metabolism and reducing body fat. Regularly drinking apple cider vinegar may also contribute to a healthier body mass index (BMI).
Grapefruit Juice: Grapefruit is rich in antioxidants and has been shown to support digestion and help control blood glucose levels. However, it’s important to note that grapefruit can interact with certain medications, so consult your doctor if you’re unsure.
Lemon Juice: Lemon juice adds a refreshing flavor while also helping to alkalize the body. It can assist in preventing blood sugar spikes and reducing bloating, making it a great addition to this drink.
Cinnamon: This spice is a natural diuretic and has anti-inflammatory properties. Cinnamon is also known to help regulate blood sugar and improve insulin sensitivity, which can aid in weight management.
Honey: Honey provides natural sweetness and nutrition while offering antioxidants that protect the digestive tract and help relieve acidity.
How to Make the Apple Cider Vinegar Drink
Mix the Ingredients: Start by combining one to two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar with 1/4 cup of cold water and 1/4 cup of warm water. This apple cider vinegar dosage is recommended to balance effectiveness and minimize potential side effects. Adjust the water temperature to your preference.
Add Flavorings: Squeeze in the juice of half a grapefruit and half a lemon. Add a pinch of cinnamon and a teaspoon of honey to sweeten the drink.
Stir Well: Ensure all the ingredients are well-mixed to create a uniform flavor profile.
Enjoy Before Meals: For best results, drink this tonic about 30 minutes before meals, up to three times a day. This timing helps prepare your stomach for digestion and maximizes the potential health benefits.
The Health Benefits of Drinking Apple Cider Vinegar
Regular consumption of this apple cider vinegar drink can offer a wide array of health benefits, particularly when integrated into a balanced diet and healthy lifestyle.
1. Supports Weight Loss
One of the most well-known benefits of taking apple cider vinegar is its potential to support weight loss by reducing body weight. Studies suggest that the acetic acid in ACV can help reduce body fat, particularly around the belly area, and contribute to modest weight loss. By improving metabolism and reducing body mass index, drinking apple cider vinegar regularly can be a valuable tool in your weight management efforts.
2. Helps Control Blood Sugar Levels
ACV is also beneficial for controlling blood sugar levels. Research indicates that it can help lower blood glucose and insulin levels, making it a useful addition to the diet for those managing diabetes or insulin resistance. Drinking ACV before meals may also help prevent blood sugar spikes.
3. Improves Digestion
The acetic acid in apple cider vinegar can increase stomach acidity, which is crucial for effective digestion. This can help reduce symptoms like gas, bloating, and indigestion. Additionally, the probiotics in unfiltered ACV can promote the growth of healthy bacteria in the gut, further supporting digestive and other potential health benefits.
4. Promotes Heart Health
There is evidence suggesting that regular consumption of ACV may help lower cholesterol levels, thus contributing to better heart health. This, combined with its potential to regulate blood pressure, makes ACV a valuable addition to a heart-healthy diet.
Potential Side Effects and Precautions
While the benefits of apple cider vinegar for weight loss are well-documented, it’s important to consume it in moderation and be aware of potential side effects.
Protect Your Teeth: Apple cider vinegar is highly acidic and can erode tooth enamel if consumed undiluted or in large quantities. To protect your teeth, consider drinking ACV through a straw and rinsing your mouth with water afterward.
Monitor Potassium Levels: Excessive consumption of ACV can lead to low potassium levels, so it’s important to stick to recommended dosages, typically one to two tablespoons per day, diluted in water.
Medication Interactions: If you’re taking prescription medications or certain supplements, consult your healthcare provider before adding ACV to your diet, as it can interact with some medications.
While more research is needed to fully understand all the potential health benefits of apple cider vinegar, there’s enough evidence to suggest that incorporating it into your daily routine can be beneficial.
This apple cider vinegar drink recipe not only makes it easier to consume ACV but also enhances its health benefits with additional ingredients like grapefruit, lemon juice, and cinnamon.
Whether you’re looking to lose weight, improve digestion, or boost your overall health, this tasty tonic is a great way to start.
Just remember to use it in moderation and consult with your healthcare provider if you have any concerns.

Thank you ????
I just saw this on utube yesterday and began using it today. It is awesome – way better than either a shot of the organic apple cider vinegar alone, or a glass of water and lemon. Tonight I will try to cocktail version as an aperitif before dinner! Thanks….
Hi Scheller, first I want to thank you for your do able workouts. I have been doing them for a month originally to get ready for trading at my job. When I did the training, I kept up with the 30 and below crowd. I said wow this works! So I’m still doing a 15 to 30 min workout now. I’m also intermittent fasting and was wondering if I am drinking the acv will interfere with that? Also do you have excercises for the fupa. That’s the area under the stomach? Again thanks again for all fun … keep up the great work.
Hi Schellea, I am 63 and have been fairly fit most of my life. Over the first wave of Covid here in Ontario,Canada, we had just returned from a trip to Thailand and the usual few pounds were added because of vacation time, however as the first wave settled in, i remained on “vacation” eating my way thru the emotions and boredom. A call from my Doctor late fall, alerted me to a cholesterol problem which left me feeling guilty because I knew that I wasn’t doing my best. Fast forward to New Years, and a resolution to stop procrastination, I found one of your you tube videos and have been hooked ever since. I am down 25 lbs and I feel “fabulous”. I had tried to lose weight over the last few years but nothing worked, and work out classes left me feeling inadequate and guilty because I was out of shape. I faithfully show up every day and changed up the videos and it worked, along with watching what I ate. thank you so much for your dedication and inspiration! Wishing you continued success in your life’s passion.
Dear Schellea. Thanks for all your tips, I really enjoy your exercises and tips for looking younger. Your apple cider drink is super tasty. Saludos

I, by accident, found your website. I am going to try the vinegar concoction. Thanks for posting. Hope it works. I need to loose 70 lbs. at least. Will comment again in a few weeks whether it is successful for me. I have tried so many things and nothing works. I am hypothyroid; have been for 18 years. That complicates weight loss.
How much water do you add ?
Do you know how many carbs is in one serving (the amount to drink before one meal)? Thank you!
Hi,
My friend and I exercise to your routines every day. We feel healthier and stronger. So, we thank you.
I have a question regarding the ACV drink. Exactly how much water do you use and could you make up to a 2 or 3 day supply at one time?
Thank you.
I will try this 🙂
I will add, though, that in EU we had some commotion about cinnamon.
Turns out that the there is ceylon and cassia cinnamon and the latter can be toxic:

So stick to the ceylon version! 🙂
Thank you you are such a beautiful person GOD BLESS

Hi Schellea, I am over 50, need to leave behind a few kilos (5-10). This morning I tested the Apple vinager recipe. I couldn’t tolerate it and got very sick. Still feel weak several hours after. I am not sure this is a remedy for everyone.
Otherwise I appreciate a lot your videos and counsels.
