It’s never too early to start taking care of your skin. As you get older, it becomes more important that you take care of your skin in order to maintain a youthful appearance.
The first step is understanding the signs of aging so that you can prevent them from happening sooner rather than later!
Over time, our skin will lose natural moisture and elasticity and develop wrinkles and age spots.
Not everyone has the same skin and signs of aging may occur at different rates for different people.
Regardless of your skin type, there are some simple things you can do to keep it looking healthy and youthful.
Thus, let’s discuss how to keep your skin looking young and healthy as you get older.
Skin care from the inside out
Want healthy, glowing skin? Start from the inside out! Nourish your body with nutrient-rich foods for a complexion that shines from within.
Your diet influences the condition of your skin due to its effects on hormones and inflammation levels in your body. Eating nutrient-rich foods can nourish your skin from the inside out.
Eat nutrient-rich foods
Make sure you are eating plenty of fruit, vegetables and antioxidant-rich foods like blueberries, tomatoes and dark chocolate. Include grains and lean protein sources like fish or chicken breast for optimal health.
Omega-3s are an important key nutrient in regards to anti-inflammatory properties. Omega-3s are generally found in fatty fish like salmon, mackerel, trout, tuna, and herring.
Flax seeds are also a great source of omega 3s, as are avocados, walnuts and olive oil. Eating omega 3s is one of the most cost effective ways to maintain skin health!
Processed foods are the number one culprit for skin problems, and they can really speed up the aging process. The preservatives in processed foods can cause inflammation and breakouts.
Refined sugar is also a culprit as sweets release insulin which causes excess oil production on your skin. Try to avoid processed foods as much as possible!
Stay away from smoking, along with all the other health issues associated with smoking, it also ages us very quickly.
Drink lots of water
Drinking water is one of the most effective ways to keep your skin looking young. Dehydration can cause wrinkles around the eyes, dull skin, and dark under-eye circles.
Hydrating your body with water will allow it to stay healthy, soft and fresh. It also helps maintain an even complexion by keeping your cells well-hydrated! Drink lots of water, at least 8 glasses per day, to help keep your skin looking young.
Exercise regularly
Staying active and eating a balanced diet can help keep your skin young and healthy. Exercise has been proven to increase blood flow and give your skin a healthy glow.
Exercise also helps to reduce stress levels, which can be very damaging to your skin! It’s never too late to start, so go ahead and take the first step today!

Protect your skin from the sun
Sunscreen is imperative in order to protect your skin against aging caused by sun exposure! You should be applying sunscreen every day.
Sunscreen not only protects your skin from UV rays that cause sunburns and skin cancer, but also protects it against aging caused by sun exposure.
Always choose a broad-spectrum formula with an SPF rating between 15-50. If you plan to be outside in direct sunlight for more than 20 minutes, you should reapply your sunscreen at least once an hour.
It’s also essential to wear sunglasses for eye protection. A board brim hat and long sleeves will also help protect our skin from the sun, keeping it more youthful for longer.
Treatments that can help keep your skin young & healthy
Tools such as exfoliants can be used to remove dead cells from your skin’s surface. Another option is to use anti-aging products such as serums, moisturizers, or lotions that contain antioxidants in order to prevent wrinkles from forming.
This is the most cost-effective and easiest way to preserve your skin’s youthful appearance.
There are many anti-aging products on the market that contain antioxidants, just make sure you’re not purchasing ones with harmful ingredients like parabens, sulfates or gluten.

Exfoliants
You may want to use an exfoliating scrub once or twice a week. Exfoliants such as scrubs and loofahs can be used to remove dead skin cells from your skin’s surface.
This is first step in keeping your skin looking young. Make sure that the scrub does not contain any harsh scrubs or microbeads !
Moisturizers
Moisturizers will create a barrier of protection against the sun and environmental factors. They not only hydrate your skin, but also prevent dryness from forming.
One more benefit that moisturizers have is that they contain ingredients that help to repair any damage caused by free radicals.
This includes wrinkles and sun spots! In order to find a good moisturizer for your skin type, you should look for products that are labeled as daytime or nighttime moisturizers.
Nighttime moisturizers usually contain heavier creams with oil-based ingredients while daytime moisturizers contain lightweight lotions or creams with water-based ingredients.
One of the things that I do to find a good moisturizer for my skin type is to think about what my skin needs.
Dry skin will need more moisture and hydration while oily skin will need a lighter moisturizer.
Another thing I do is think about what my lifestyle is like. If I’m hard at work, sweating all day, and not getting enough sleep, then I know my skin is probably going to be dryer than usual so I need a heavier moisturizer.
Serums
Serums are also a must! They contain ingredients such as Vitamin C and retinol, which can help keep wrinkles at bay. They do this by minimizing the appearance of fine lines and binding to collagen fibers.
You need to make sure you are using a high quality, gentle and hydrating lotion. These lotions typically contain humectants, such as glycerin and panthenol, which help maintain moisture in the uppermost layers of your skin.
You should also be looking for ingredients such as ceramides and fatty acids if you want to keep your skin looking very hydrated. The last thing you want is to be stretching or pulling at your skin while applying lotion! If this has been something that has been happening to you, then it may be time for a new lotion.
Face masks
You can also try using face masks once a week to exfoliate and moisturize skin. There are many different types of masks for different skin needs, such as dry skin, aging skin, or acne prone skin.
Face masks can provide a deep clean and can help to brighten skin, making it appear more youthful.
It’s important to note that not every face mask will work the same for everyone because we all have different types of skin. You might need to try out a few before you find one that works best for your specific needs!
Face masks also work as a great way to de-stress and relax.
Closing Thoughts…
It is important for women over 50 to take care of their skin. As we age, our skin naturally changes and can become dryer and more sensitive.
Going without proper skin care can lead to premature aging. To keep your skin looking young and healthy, it’s important to drink plenty of water, eat antioxidant-rich foods and avoid processed foods which speed up the aging process.
Make sure you are wearing sunscreen every day to protect your skin against aging caused by sun exposure and choose skin care products that are gentle and non-irritating since the delicate skin around the eyes is very sensitive.
Following these few steps can help prevent wrinkles and keep your skin looking young and healthy for longer.

I’m Filipino, and I am 0n 50’s. I have hard time selecting the right color combinations and where to apply it. When there’s occasion to go to, I’m always worried that I look like a Christmas Tree. I don’t wear a lot of make ups and also, the form of my eyes. By the way, love . . . Love . . . Love your show.
I am wondering what suggestions you have for eye care?
